Lawyer 'wanted £350k art loan'


A LAWYER repeatedly asked a client for a £350,000 loan — telling him it was something to do with a stolen painting, a jury heard yesterday.

But Roy Radcliffe, 60, said he dismissed the proposal as "ludicrous", even though he was promised a ten per cent profit on his cash within days.

Lawyer is slammed over theft of laptop



A TOP lawyer has been rapped for breaching the Data Protection Act after a laptop containing sensitive information about court cases was stolen from her home.

The Information Commisioner's Office found advocate Ruth Crawford failed to secure her personal computer to stop others accessing personal details on it.
Miss Crawford, of Edinburgh firm Axiom Advocates, has representated the Scottish Government in a number of lawsuits.
Last night Labour MSP James Kelly said: "This is an alarming breach of security."
The laptop was stolen in a break-in at her home in 2009 and has never been recovered.
It contained personal data involved in eight of her court cases, including the physical and mental health of individuals. She has agreed to take steps to avoid a repeat.
